Spring is here!

March 27, 2018 By Kay

Spring is at last on its way and we’re looking forward to flowers and sun instead of snow and rain.

Adrian has returned from his February trip to Iceland and hopes to return at a time of year less prone to stormy weather. In general, he enjoyed his time there. Icelandic food not so much.

Nathan and Barbara have almost come to the end of house renovations and plan on a less chaotic spring.

Bob and I soldier on and are looking forward to a rather special anniversary in April. Have we really been married so long? It was surely only a few years ago that we attended a dog club banquet in Victoria and saw each other across a crowded room … Actually I looked at him and thought, ‘Oh. Bell Bottoms.”  He was in the navy at the time.  He looked at me and thought, “Oh. Blue stockings.” I was into colorful stockings at a time when colorful legs were definitely OUT. Our clothing may have changed since those days but, hey, we’re still together.

While I try to decide which story to work on next, I hope you will enjoy MARRIED TO DECEIVE, MARRIED TIMES TWO and MARRIED TO A STRANGER  from my Reluctant Brides series, which will continue to be available on Amazon, eReader sites and Barnes and Noble.

The Start of Spring…

February 10, 2018 By Kay

I’m happy to say that Bob, son Adrian, Baxter Dog and I survived a quiet Christmas and are beginning to think about 2018.

January has never been my favourite month, so I’m pleased to welcome the arrival of February and, if we’re lucky, the start of Spring.  Since we’ve been drenched in endless rain lately, the arrival of the New Year has finally inspired us to renew our passports. This means that, in theory at least, we can now dream of travel beyond the borders of B.C.  In practice – well, we’ll see how we feel once we dry out.

Meanwhile, Adrian has headed for Iceeland where he hopes Northern Lights may brighten the sky  to make up for the likelihood of his arriving in more rain.  Son, Nathan, and his wife Barbara have increased their cat family by two and are now the proud guardians of Selke, Oscar, Raven, Smudge and Luna. We hope to meet the last two before the year is out.  Baxter will not be invited. He doesn’t much approve of cats.

Season’s Greetings!

December 6, 2017 By Kay

I’m delighted to announce that MARRIED TO DECEIVE, MARRIED TIMES TWO and MARRIED TO A STRANGER are now available on Amazon, eReader sites and Barnes & Noble. I hope you will enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

Bob and I had had an interesting year, even though we didn’t venture far from home. In August my cousins from England arrived after taking in the total eclipse from Casper, Wyoming, which, apparently, was amazing. It was lovely be with family again and we missed them even before they left.

Having neglected to renew passports for 2017, we decided not to ruffle international feathers by attempting to cross the border without proof that we exist. So, we decided on an uncomplicated holiday in B.C. Leaving Baxter the Dog in son, Adrian’s, capable hands, we headed for Qualicum on Vancouver Island, where I had lunch with long-time writing friend, Sabine Kells, before taking a ferry to Salt Spring Island where we stayed at a hotel that was undergoing renovations. This could explain the small army of militant ants occupying our bathroom sink. I reported the ant invasion to the front desk, where a Receptionist assured me staff would apply a “treatment” in the morning.

We spent the following day exploring this peaceful, scenic Island that bustles with friendly, laid-back people selling everything from cheese to wine to a selection of irresistible glassware that was “cooked” while we watched. When we returned to our hotel, we checked the sink and concluded that the promised ‘treatment’ given to ants must have been a fertility drug. Since no one was in the office, we retired to bed, only to be woken later that night by a fire alarm which turned out to be false. Two hours afterwards the fire department managed to shut it off, and the following t morning, as we departed wearily to catch the ferry home, our ants waved a cheery goodbye.

In October we had the pleasure of visiting our elder son and daughter-in-law’s new home in Nanaimo and meeting their beautiful cats. Well, three of them anyway. And that’s about it for 2017.

Now the year is almost over and Adrian, our younger son, has put up Christmas lights and we’re attempting to get on with feeling festive.

With good wishes to all for a happy, healthy and peaceful 2018.

Kay’s Reluctant Brides Have Arrived!

October 26, 2017 By Kay

GOOD NEWS!

The Reluctant Brides are here!

MARRIED TO DECEIVE, MARRIED TIMES TWO and MARRIED TO A STRANGER are now on Amazon and will soon be available on eReader sites. I hope you will enjoy reading about Phaedra and Iain, Olivia and Simon along with Emma and Zack, followed by Isabella and Brand, as much as I enjoyed writing about them.

On a personal note, Bob and I have just returned from a short visit to Vancouver Island where our son, Nathan, and his wife, Barbara have recently moved into their first house. It’s a two level charmer on a hill with an irresistible view over Departure Bay. Their three cats have already made themselves at home and thoroughly approve of their new residence. Whether they will also approve of the two new kittens scheduled to arrive in late October is another matter.

We are now home again and, somewhat warily, contemplating the advent of Christmas.

As always, Happy Reading, and Happy Thanksgiving to all of you south of our border.
