2022 Winter Update

December 9, 2022 By Kay

Our year began with buttercups. They took up residence on our back lawn after a kind neighbour provided us with a truckload of sand to fill the backyard lake created by a long, wet winter.  It seems buttercups love sand and fresh dirt. Adrian and neighbourhood dogs prefer grass. Eventually Adrian won Buttercup Wars and turned his attention to painting the house. Painting successfully completed, we settled down to a celebration of 50 years in our current home.  Celebration ended when COVID finally caught up with us. Not fun, but we survived and had completely recovered by the time our daughter-in-law, Barbara, arrived one afternoon with Phryne, our new Samoyed granddog. She’s a total charmer and I can’t wait to meet her again soon.
Books? Well, I haven’t written any new ones recently, but I’m contemplating publishing a collection of my short stories. Only contemplating, so far but it may happen …
With good wishes for 2023 and a year of Happy Reading to all.

2021 WINTER UPDATE

November 20, 2021 By Kay

November 20, 2021

This year has been a slight improvement on 2020 as Adrian and I learn to adjust to life without Bob.  We have been particularly cheered by frequent visits from the neighbourhood dogs and their owners who have discovered that what passes for our back lawn is the perfect place for dogs to play and chase balls now that our Baxter is no longer around to chase them himself. Doggy antics do help to dispel COVID blues too, though a dog park wasn’t quite what we had in mind when we planted our garden so many years ago. Whatever works …

I still have ambitions to write more stories and hope that sooner or later inspiration may strike again. Meanwhile, most of my books are available from Amazon or ePublishingWorks

Wishing everyone all the very best for a Healthy and Happy 2022.

2021 Update

April 7, 2021 By Kay

No, I haven’t dropped off the edge of earth, though sometimes it feels that way. As many of you know, I lost my husband, Bob, to cancer last August. It’s been a struggle, but my younger son, Adrian, and I are slowly working our way through the collections of everything that made up Bob’ long list of interests, hobbies and enthusiasms – everything from military history and code breaking to classical music, jewelry-making, anything Italian and the Egyptian hieroglyphics which I still find scrawled in unexpected corners of our house.  There were also the endless government forms to be completed after he left us … Need I say more?

2021 didn’t start much better since in January we lost our impossible but much-loved Baxter Dog due to lesions on his spine.  Life is definitely more peaceful these days though  peace can be greatly over-rated.  Obviously Adrian and I are beginning to adjust to a different and less confused life – with the help of the neighbourhood dogs who these days are free to gambol on our lawn.

Books? Well, I’m reading them, of course, but not writing much yet – though most of my stories are still available from Amazon and elsewhere.

Down with COVID –  and may 2021 be a much healthier and happier year for all of us.

Best wishes and happy reading to all.

Fall Update

October 30, 2020 By Kay

Seems the end of the world hasn’t been postponed after all. My world
anyway.  The summer didn’t end well for me and my sons, since Bob, my
husband of many years, left us in August for what we very much hope will
be a kinder world. He hadn’t been well for some time and perhaps, for
him, it was a relief.  Now we are picking ourselves up and trying to
carry on – not with much help from Baxter the dog, who continues to bark
furiously at passing dogs, cats, squirrels, raccoons and, of course,
post people. Still, he’s warm and furry and his companionship helps a lot.

Obviously I haven’t written much lately, but I do have some ideas for
short stories and hope to get back in the groove before long. Meanwhile,
most of my books are available online.

Stay well – and Happy Reading.
